Starting a Game

Getting started is simple. In Live games, you begin a new game by selecting a map.

Unlike Tower Defense 2, Tower Defense has a fixed difficulty, making it a great introduction to tower defense strategy.

How to Play

Answer 3 questions between each wave to earn Tokens, then spend those Tokens to purchase towers that defend against incoming waves of Evil Blooks.

Each tower attacks enemies automatically as they move along the path. As you earn more Tokens, you can purchase additional towers, upgrade existing ones, or adjust your strategy to prepare for tougher waves.

Before purchasing a tower, click or tap it to preview its statistics, abilities, and other helpful information.

After purchasing a tower, move it around the map to preview its attack range before placing it.

A red X indicates that the tower cannot be placed in that location, such as on the path or on an obstacle.

When you've found the right location, click or tap again to place the tower.

Every tower serves a different purpose. Some specialize in dealing heavy damage, others attack quickly, slow enemies, or provide other strategic advantages. Some of the more powerful towers only unlock at higher levels.

Experiment with different combinations to discover which defenses work best together.

Upgrading and Selling Towers

As you defeat more enemies and answer more questions, you'll continue earning Tokens to strengthen your defenses.

Selecting one of your towers opens its management menu.

Action Description
Upgrade Improve the tower's damage, range, abilities, or other attributes.
Sell Remove the tower and recover some of the Tokens you've invested so you can adjust your strategy or purchase different towers.

Don't be afraid to change your defense as the game progresses. Selling a tower that has served its purpose (especially those received as an event reward) can help you invest in stronger defenses later in the game.

Surviving the Waves

Each wave introduces more Evil Blooks to defeat.

As you progress, enemies become increasingly difficult. Some have more health, others move faster, and later waves require stronger towers and smarter placement to keep them from advancing.

Tower Defense also includes occasional special events that can change gameplay and encourage you to adapt your strategy on the fly.

Live, Solo, and Homework

Tower Defense offers a different experience depending on how you play.

Mode Stats Objective
Live

Compete against other players to deal the most damage before time expires or reach the host's Score goal first.
Solo/HW

Continue progressing through increasingly difficult levels while building the strongest defense possible before running out of health.

No matter which mode you choose, every correct answer earns Tokens that help you expand and strengthen your defense.

Saving Your Progress

In Solo and Homework, your progress is automatically saved, allowing you to continue your adventure from where you left off.

When starting a game, you'll first choose a Save Slot.

If you've played before, you'll have three options:

  • Load Game to continue one of your previously saved games.
  • New Game to start a fresh game in an empty save slot.
  • Replace Game to overwrite one of your existing saved games with a new adventure.

Automatic saving makes Tower Defense perfect for longer strategy sessions. Build your defenses over time, experiment with different approaches, and come back later to continue surviving increasingly difficult waves.

Strategy Tips

Tip: Different towers excel against different enemy types. Try a variety of tower combinations to discover what works best.

Tip: Tower placement is just as important as tower selection. Long-range towers can begin attacking enemies earlier and longer, while shorter-range towers are often most effective when placed close to the path so they can attack enemies for longer.

Tip: Don't be afraid to sell towers that are no longer useful. Recovering some of your Tokens lets you adjust your strategy as the game evolves.

Tip: Keep upgrading your defenses throughout the game. Later waves become much more challenging and require stronger towers to keep up.

Tip: Pay attention to special events as they appear. Adapting your strategy can help you overcome unexpected challenges and maximize your score.
