Game Overview: Café

Café is a strategy and time management game where you run your own café by serving customers, answering questions to restock ingredients, and upgrading your menu to earn more money.

Balancing customer demand, managing your inventory, and deciding how to invest your profits are all part of building a successful café.

How to Play Café

Starting Your Café

Every café starts small.

At the beginning of the game, you'll have a single menu item available. Each plate represents one menu item and displays how many servings you currently have available.

If a plate is empty, you'll need to restock it before you can serve customers.

As your café grows, you'll unlock additional menu items, giving customers more options while also making your café more challenging to manage.

Restocking Food

Whenever you need more food, answer questions to restock your menu.

Click the Restock Food button or press the Spacebar to answer a question from the Question Set.

Each correct answer increases the stock of every unlocked menu item by one, allowing you to continue serving customers.

Serving Customers

Customers will continuously enter your café and place orders of one or more menu item.

If you have the requested food in stock, simply click or tap the customer to automatically serve every requested menu item that's currently available.

If a customer orders multiple items and you don't have all of them in stock, your café will serve the items you do have available. The customer will remain in your café waiting for the remaining items until you've restocked the missing food and can serve them again.

Every completed order earns money that can be reinvested into your café.

Serving customers efficiently while keeping your menu stocked is the key to building a successful business.

Growing Your Café

As you earn money, you'll have opportunities to improve your café. How you upgrade depends on which game mode you're playing.

Solo & Homework

At the end of each in game day, you'll visit the upgrade shop to invest your profits.

You can improve your café in three different ways:

Each upgrade helps your café become more profitable, but expanding your menu also means you'll have more inventory to manage and larger customer orders to fulfill.

Live

Live games use a different progression system. Instead of waiting until the end of the day, you can purchase upgrades at any time during the game buy clicking or tapping the Visit Shop button.

In the players can unlock and upgrade menu items or upgrade their café level. 

Selecting the Abilities button takes them to a different menu which allows them to access one-time upgrades that will help their cafe or sabotage other players.

Abilities include benefits like:

• Rewarding bonus money.
• Instantly restocking your food.
• Boosting your café's performance.
• Slowing down or disrupting opposing cafés.

Choosing when to invest in permanent upgrades versus spending money on abilities is an important part of the strategy.

Balancing Your Café

As your café grows, so does the challenge.

Unlocking more menu items increases your earning potential, but it also means you'll have more dishes to keep stocked and more customer orders to manage.

Finding the right balance between expanding your menu, upgrading your existing dishes, and improving your café level is one of the biggest strategic decisions in the game.

Live, Solo, and Homework

Café offers a different experience depending on how you play.

No matter which mode you're playing, every correct answer helps keep your shelves stocked and your customers happy.

Saving Your Progress

When playing Solo, your café automatically saves as you play, allowing you to continue building your business over multiple sessions.

When starting a game, you'll have three options:

• Load Game to continue one of your previously saved cafés.
• Start a New Café in an empty save slot.
• Delete Save to overwrite one of your existing cafés and open a new slot.

Strategy Tips

Tip: Every correct answer restocks every unlocked menu item. As your café grows, each question becomes even more valuable.

Tip: Try to answer questions before several dishes run out so you always have food ready for waiting customers.

Tip: Consider unlocking new menu items before restocking too much food, since new menu items always start at 0.

Tip: Early in the game, expanding your menu increases your earning potential. Later, upgrading your existing dishes may provide a better return on your investment.

Tip: In Live games, balance permanent upgrades with special abilities. Spending all of your money on one or the other isn't always the best strategy.

Tip: Near the end of a Live game, think carefully before purchasing another menu or café upgrade. Since the winner is determined by total money earned, make sure your investment has enough time to pay for itself.

Starting a Game of Café

Solo or Homework

1. Select a Question Set.
2. Click Play Solo.
3. Choose Café.
4. If assigning as Homework, configure your assignment settings.
5. Choose to Load Game, Start a New Game, or Replace Save.
6. Begin serving customers and growing your café.

Live

1. Select a Question Set.
2. Click Host.
3. Choose Café from the list of game modes.
4. Choose whether the game ends after a Time limit or when a player reaches the Money Goal.
5. Adjust any additional game settings.
6. Share the Game ID, QR Code, or join link with your players.
7. Click Host Now to begin.
