Game Overview: Deceptive Dinos

Deceptive Dinos is a live game mode where players compete to collect the most fossils before time runs out. Every correct answer gives you a choice: carefully excavate for fossils or investigate another player to see if they've been cheating.

With bluffing, strategy, and a little detective work, every turn becomes a decision between taking a risk and protecting your hard earned fossils.

How to Play

Answer questions correctly to earn turns throughout the game.

After each correct answer, you'll choose between two actions:

  • Excavate to search for fossils.
  • Investigate another player to see if they've been cheating.

The player with the most fossils when the game ends wins.

Excavate for Fossils

Choose Excavate to dig through rocks and uncover hidden fossils.

Each rock hides a different reward, so you'll need to decide which one to excavate.

The fossils you collect are added to your total score.

To Cheat or Not to Cheat

During excavation, you can choose to Cheat.

Cheating secretly scans the rocks and reveals what's hidden beneath them before you make your selection. This can help you choose the most valuable fossils.

However, cheating comes with a risk.

If another player investigates you and catches you cheating, you'll lose some of the fossils you've collected.

Every excavation becomes a strategic decision:

  • Play honestly and avoid getting caught.
  • Cheat to uncover better fossils.
  • Decide whether the extra reward is worth the risk.

Investigate Other Players

Instead of excavating, you can choose to Investigate another player.

If the player was cheating during their last excavation, you'll catch them and they'll lose some of their fossils.

If they weren't cheating, nothing happens, and you've given up your opportunity to excavate that turn.

Choosing the right player at the right time is just as important as finding valuable fossils.

Strategy

Deceptive Dinos is about more than answering questions quickly.

Every turn presents a new decision:

  • Excavate to collect more fossils.
  • Cheat for a better chance at valuable rewards.
  • Investigate another player instead of digging yourself.

Pay attention to your opponents' behavior. If someone seems to be finding unusually valuable fossils, it might be worth investigating to see if they're taking shortcuts.
