When building your Question Set in Blooket, you can choose from two main question types—Multiple Choice and Typing Answer. Each offers flexibility in how students engage with your content, and both can incorporate rich media to support learning.
Multiple Choice Questions
Requirements
- Provide 2–4 answer options for each question.
- Mark at least one option as correct. You may check more than one if your set calls for it.
- Enter your primary question text. This is required for all questions.
Question Media
- All users can use text for questions and answers.
- Images or equations can also accompany text in the question.
- Plus users can enhance questions with Audio clips
Typing Answer Questions
Typing Answer questions ask students to generate their own response rather than select it. It is ideal for short-answer assessment. Since it is not the default, it will need to be selected manually in the question type dropdown.
Setup & Matching Options
- In the question editor, select the Typing Answer type using the question type dropdown.
- Enter the correct answer and choose how matching should work:
- “Is exactly”: Student answer must match exactly what you entered (including spacing, punctuation, and exact wording).
- “Contains”: Student answer must include the phrase or word you entered—this allows for more flexibility in how students phrase responses.
- Like Multiple Choice, you can include text, images, equations, or audio (Plus only) in the question.
Answer Media (Plus Users)
|
- Use the image icon to upload your own images or browse the gallery to add question or answer images.
- Use the equation editor to incorporate math symbols or full equations (using LaTeX) into questions or answers.
Best Practices for Question Creation
- Keep your Multiple Choice answer options concise and clear.
- Use “contains” when you want students to use their own phrasing (e.g., vocabulary definitions) and “is exactly” when precision matters (e.g., specific terminology, spelling, or exact phrasing).
- When creating True or False questions, be sure to uncheck the "Random Order" option at the top of the question editor to ensure that True is always on the left and False is always on the right.
By understanding and leveraging these two question types (Multiple Choice and Typing Answer) and combining them with media enhancements, you’ll create engaging, varied Question Sets that support diverse learners and instructional goals.
